From the first conversation to the finished design. How a website design is created, what we need from you and why we start with content, not colours.
Website design isn't just how a website looks. It's also how people find their way around it, whether they quickly find what they're looking for and whether they eventually contact you. That's why we don't start with colours, but with content.
1. Conversation
We find out what you sell, to whom and what the website should achieve. We look at your current website, your competitors and websites you like. The result is a clear brief.
2. Website structure
We propose which pages the website will have and what will be on each of them. Like a map we then design from. This is where it's decided whether the website will be clear.
3. Wireframe: a skeleton without colours
We first sketch the most important pages in simplified form, without colours or photos. We work out the order of content, the importance of sections and the buttons. It's a quick and cheap place to make changes.
4. Visual design
Only now come colours, fonts, photos and details. We build on your brand. If you don't have one yet, we can also create a logo and visual identity. We design for both mobile and desktop.
5. Feedback
We go through the design together and incorporate your feedback. The number of feedback rounds is agreed in advance in the quote, so it's clear what's included in the price.
6. Handover to development
The approved design moves into development. Since we do design and development in one team, nothing gets lost in translation between designer and developer.
What we'll need from you
- Your logo and colours, if you have them.
- Photos of your company or an agreement on a photo shoot.
- A few websites you like and what exactly you like about them.
- Time for feedback on the agreed dates.
Good design isn't the one we like. It's the one that works for your customers.
