What to prepare before the first meeting so your website is built quickly without unnecessary waiting. Even if you don't have copy or photos yet.
The most common reason a new website isn't finished on time isn't the programming. It's waiting for copy, photos and decisions. The good news: you can prepare most of it in one afternoon. And whatever you don't manage, we'll help with.
1. A few sentences about what you do
We don't need finished copy. It's enough if you can answer three questions:
- What do you sell or what service do you offer?
- Who are your customers and what do they most often come to you with?
- Why do they choose you rather than a competitor?
The answers can be bullet points or even a voice message. From that we can already propose the website structure.
2. What the website should do
A website without a goal is just an online business card. Think about what visitors should do on the website: call, send an enquiry, order products, book an appointment? We build the whole site around that.
3. Logo, colours and photos
Send what you have: your logo (ideally as a vector, for example SVG or PDF), the colours you use and photos of your company. Phone photos are fine, at least we'll see what your company really looks like.
If you don't have photos, we'll choose suitable stock images or arrange a photo shoot.
4. Websites you like
Two or three links to websites you like tell us more than a long description. They don't have to be from your industry. Just write what exactly you like about them.
5. Access details
If you already have a domain, hosting or e-mail, we'll need to know where they are. Don't send us passwords by e-mail, we'll agree on a secure way.
You don't need finished copy or photos. What matters is that we agree at the start who prepares what and by when.
What if you don't have time?
That's perfectly fine. We can write the copy for you after a short conversation and choose stock photos. You just approve.
